Married Couples Retreat

February 3-5, 2017

Love in marriage:

The place where you are standing is holy ground!

Presented by Christine and Rich Codden

The retreat content will be offered in four sessions.

Friday evening session:

Love in Marriage: Pope Francis' insights on how "to perfect a couple's love."

We’ve all heard the familiar reading from I Corinthians 13, “love is patient, love is kind,” but what does this actually look like in the day-to-day grind of marriage and family life?  Using Pope Francis’ recent exegesis in his apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia, we will examine how we can practically live out Saint Paul’s inspiring words in our everyday lives.

Saturday sessions:

What Wives Wish Their Husbands Knew about Women

What Husbands Wish Their Wives Knew about Men

No, men and women do not come from different planets, but they do come from different perspectives.  Even when Jesus was questioned about marriage, he emphasized, “Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female?” (Matt 19:4).  These sessions will focus on the complementarity of the sexes.  We will learn that our difference in perspectives doesn’t have to be a source of friction.  When understood correctly, our differences are meant to enrich one another and make our marriage stronger.

Sunday morning session:

The Holy Ground of the Family

Recently, Pope Francis quoted Exodus 3, which says, “Remove your shoes from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”  How do we make present the love of God so our families know they are worthy of awe and respect?  How do we practically reverence one another in our marriage in family?  How do we make this love present to the world around us?
