In a panel discussion, we will focus on immigration and the challenges and blessings that immigrants face in coming into central Minnesota and surrounding environs. Following the three reflections, the floor will be opened to questions, responses, and observations.


Yadira Rubio, born in Campeche, Campeche, Mexico. She arrived five years ago in central Minnesota, and lives in Cold Spring, with her parents and brothers. She studies Nursing at the Ridgewater College of Wilmar, MN, and has a part-time job in a dairy farm.

D. Lucio David Hernandez, born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Now a naturalized citizen, he arrived first to California in 1988, then he lived in Arizona for several years, finally moving Sartell, in 2011. He is a Permanent Deacon of the Diocese of St. Cloud, ordained in June 2017, and also works as an insurance sales agent.

Blanca Guzman de Garcia, born in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, Mexico. She arrived first in California in 1993, before moving to Cold Spring, in 1995. She works as a Nanny in SJU and does cleaning work in Cold Spring.
