The Time of Preparation Is Complete
Presented by Father Lew Grobe, O.S.B.
A few days before the big conference meet, our cross-country coach would tell the team that the “hay is in the barn.” Although few of us grew up on farms or knew how hay actually gets from the field to the barn, we all understood what our coach was trying to tell us. The long runs and the grueling workouts of the past five months were over; the time of preparation was complete. All season we had worked for this moment, and all that was left to do was toe the line and run the race.
When we reach the Easter Triduum, the “hay is in the barn.” The Lenten days of preparation are complete, and all we have left to do is immerse ourselves in the solemn words and actions of these holy days. Using the liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and the Easter Vigil as its foundation, this retreat aims to aid participants to enter fully into these most sacred days—to give themselves over to the greatest drama there is: our Lord’s passion, death, and resurrection.
The retreat begins at 4:00 p.m. on Holy Thursday and concludes after lunch on Easter Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The cost is $290 for a single room, and $520 for a double room ($260 per person).
