"Saint John's is a special place, a magical place, a hidden treasure, an oasis."

"My brief stay was graced by the gentleness and humility of this place and its monastic community. I felt the peacefulness and joy that abides."

Saint John's Abbey

The Abbey Guesthouse

A spiritual oasis;
a time and place for prayer and renewal;
an opportunity for guests and retreatants.

Welcome, Pilgrim

The monks of Saint John's invite you to come and be spiritually renewed. We invite you to make Saint John's your place of spiritual respite, and, for at least a time, to make Saint John's your spiritual home.

The Abbey Guesthouse is ideally located where our guests and retreatants can enjoy Saint John's abundant natural beauty. Each guest room has a unobstructed view of Lake Sagatagan. The trails into our forest and around our lakes literally begin at the front door. While set apart to allow for solitude, quiet, and reflection, the Guesthouse is also linked to the abbey church. The location affords guests the opportunity to meet and pray with the monastic community, allowing them to join the monks for Liturgy of the Hours and Eucharist.

Accommodations

The Abbey Guesthouse has thirty guest rooms (including four suites), a meditation chapel, a library, meeting rooms for groups of various sizes, a dining room, and parlors for visiting and spiritual direction. Besides tending to guests' housing and meals, staff assists with your spiritual needs as well.

The Benedictine monks of Saint John's Abbey invite you to come and enjoy the quiet and solitude, as well as the Benedictine hospitality, of our new and expanded guest and retreatant accommodations.

An overnight stay allows visitors to contemplate in leisure the wonders of The Saint John's Bible exhibition. In each guest's room hangs a handsome print from The Saint John's Bible.

Sunday at the Abbey

Saint John's Abbey sponsors a series of presentations on monastic culture, spirituality, and history to inaugurate the newly renovated Chapter House that is connected to the abbey guesthouse and Pavilion.

The presentations take place in the Chapter House at 7 p.m. and are usually on the second Sunday of the month; there will be no presentations in June and August. Refreshments are served in the Pavilion at 8 p.m.
