The first phase of construction involved building a service tunnel to bring HVAC, power and telecommunications from the library/science hall to the site beside the Prep School where the Abbey Guesthouse will be located. Abbey Development presents some computer-generated designs of the Guesthouse.

The utility tunnel finally reached the spot where it meets the pedestrian tunnel that will connect the Guesthouse with the Abbey Church. Quite a deep hole was dug to handle the storm drain. This phase of construction proved more expensive than anticipated, and it might be necessary to reduce the architect's suggestions for finishing and furnishing the interior of the Abbey Guesthouse to keep within budget.

The junction of the tunnels is clear in the above photographs. The tunnel connecting the Guesthouse to the renovated Chapter House, the Eucharistic Chapel, the elevator and east entrance extension to the Abbey Church is shown schematically in an architect's drawing.

In two weeks time, the junction of the tunnels is completed and the beginning of the extension to the site of the Guesthouse is visible. Workers were on the construction site Saturday morning.
14 August 2005
The tunnels have been waterproofed and end abruptly awaiting the next phase of construction at the site of the Abbey Guesthouse. The last two photos show the reconstruction of the faculty parking lot above the utility tunnel.

The first two photographs were taken from the southwest corner of the Chapter House looking towards the site of the Abbey Guesthouse. The last photo shows the preparation for the newly configured entrance to the parking lots from the Prep School road.
27 August and 5 September 2005
The first photograph was taken near the east entrance of the Abbey Church. In the foreground is the beginning of a walkway towards the Abbey Guesthouse. The fourth photo was taken from the road that leads down to the public beach of Lake Sagatagan. It shows the future construction site on the side of the hill. The final four photos show the finished asphalt on the approach road coming from the Prep School.

The final two photographs show the safety fence erected around the construction site of the Abbey Guesthouse.
