Sandra Carney, mezzo-soprano. Ms Carney teaches applied voice at Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, PA. She is a member of the PASSACA Trio with singers Patrician Kent and Carolyn Finley. Carolyn Finley, mezzo-soprano, performs regularly with a faculty chamber music ensemble, PASTICHE, and is a member of the PASSACA trio. Dr. Finley is an Associate Professor of Music at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University. Hugh Givens, bass-baritone, appears with the Opera Company of Boston, West Virginia Opera Theater, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, the Virginia Opera Company, Edmonton Opera and the Minnesota Opera Company. He is a voice professor and director of the opera theater program at St. Cloud State University. Patricia Kent, soprano, has appeared as a solist with the Minnesota chorale, the Minnesota Sinfonia, the Lyra Concert (MN) and the Rochester Symphony (MN). She recently recorded another CD entitled, All in the Family: Songs of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel and Felix Mendelssohn with Fr. Bob Koopmann OSB, piano. |
Angela Malek, soprano, received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Baylor University and Indiana University respectively. In 1990, Ms. Malek was a rotary Scholar at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland. Ms. Malek currently lives in Köln, Germany, where she is a free-lance singer. Edward Turley, piano, has served as the chair of the Music Department at CSB|SJU where developed special courses for non-major music students. He holds the Master and Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance from Colorado at Boulder. He is an active soloist, accompanist, clinician and adjudicator throughout the upper Midwest. He is a member of PASTICHE. Bruce Thornton, clarinets, is an Associate Professor of Woodwinds and Jazz at CSB|SJU. He has made two records with the Dixie Jazz Patrol and is featured on CDs produced by The Wolverines, a Twin Cities big band. Dr. Thornton has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra and the Plymouth Music Series. |
Recorded live at the Stephen B. Humphrey Theater at Saint John's University between August 1998 and July 1999. The 23 tracks were recorded in stereo with an AKG stereo C422 microphone direct to digital tape. The piano is a 1959 Steinway, Model D.
All editing and mastering performed at Granite City Records, Saint Cloud, Minnesota.

This composition for bass, baritone and piano, was the co-winner of the 1998 Art Song competition sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). The CD, Uncommon Daisies, commences with the Six English Epitaphs.
