Brother Nicholas Thelen OSB
Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, in 1929, Brother Nicholas professed monastic vows on March 21, 1959. Brother Nicholas has spent much of his career in Japan, first at St. Anselm's Priory in Tokyo and, for the last seven years, at Trinity Benedictine Monastery in Fujimi.
Among his various assignments, Brother Nicholas uses the skills he learned in Saint John's Abbey Woodworking to build furniture for the Japanese monastery. His quiet and reserved manner fits perfectly with the contemplative character of the priory.
