Justice & Peace Committee

The purpose of the Justice and Peace Committee of Saint John's Abbey is twofold: It attempts to raise both individual and community consciousness about issues of justice and peace, and it actively promotes projects that advance peace and justice causes, either by its own initiative or by encouraging existing efforts. In its educational goals, the committee attempts to provide resources or direct the monastic community to resources that both inform and form our understanding of the gospel call to make peace by working for justice. Primary among the committee's concerns is the way in which the monastery's community life reflects the gospel values of peace and justice, especially concern and care for the poor and disadvantaged.
