Saint Raphael Hall
Introduction
Saint Raphael Hall is an integral part of Saint John's Abbey. It has served the retired members of the Benedictine community since 1976.
It provides 24-hour acute and long-term skilled nursing care for the monks.
The facility can house 28 residents in individual rooms, each with a private bath.
A chapel is located in Saint Raphael's Hall. Midday Prayer is held at 11:15 a.m., before lunch, and Mass is celebrated daily at 5 p.m. Special Masses are celebrated on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter at 11:30 a.m.
Meals are prepared and served to residents and their guests in the Hall's dining room. Other sites on campus are also available outside of the Hall's dining hours.
Staff
The majority of the monks' medical needs are met by our on site physician and physician assistant. Other care is provided by a trained staff that consists of RN's, LPN's, CNA's, and students from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.
Supervised facilities for physical and occupational therapy are also available on site.
Father Prior Tom Andert OSB is entrusted with the general monastic oversight of Saint Raphael Hall, and several monks take turns celebrating Mass in the chapel.
Location
Saint Raphael Hall is located on the second floor (east wing) of the quadrangle. Directions are available at the information desk in the Great Hall for reaching Saint Raphael Hall by elevator.
Visiting
Visitors, family, and friends are welcomed and encouraged to spend time with the monastic residents of Saint Raphael Hall.
